New “smart” bandages will dramatically cut healing time for wounds in chronic patients

Researchers at MIT, Harvard, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln are closing in on the development of so-called “intelligence bandages” that will dramatically improve healing times, especially in patients with chronic wounds.


As reported by Futurism, the bandages are made from cotton that is swathed in a substance that is electrically conductive. The bandages are then further enveloped in a gel that can store medications such as antibiotics and painkillers.
